Call of Duty promises Vanguard file size will be considerably smaller on PS5

Activision, the publisher of Call of Duty, knows this. He has seen all the complaints on social media about the show’s absurd hard drive imprint and surprisingly posted a message on Twitter acknowledging it. The franchise’s official account notes that “the installation size of Call of Duty: Vanguard at launch will be significantly smaller than previous versions of Call of Duty.”

He adds: “The new on-demand texture streaming technology is expected to save 30-50% and more in disk space for the next-generation console and PC hard drive.

What is unclear is whether this will also apply to the PS4. He begins the Tweet by stating that there is “good news for hard drives everywhere,” so even next-gen consoles are likely to benefit from a considerably smaller file size – it’s just that the benefits are. Sony’s new system will always be expanded, which has been a constant trend lately.

One thing to note is that this only applies to the release period for now – there’s a good chance that Vanguard’s file size will increase with future updates, as it did with previous installments like Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold. War.
