This is a very difficult review to write, because I really like what’s going on here. But in the end, I never found it appealing at the level of, say, SimCity. This one has an amazing Street View version that lets you walk around and feel like part of the city, and if you like that kind of thing, this game is definitely one that you can have fun with this way. As for the options on how to build the city, everything seems much more abstract than SimCity, the way these social groups exist, and so on.
If you’re looking for an entry into the city simulation genre, SimCity 4 (despite its awkward controls by modern standards) is probably the way to go. If you like city builders as a genre and are looking for a good one after you run out of others, I’m sure I can tell you that I enjoyed this one despite my complaints. But it’s not one that caught my eye for tens of hours. I was very keen on giving it a positive or negative review. Ultimately, I felt like I was having fun and that my money was worth it, so that’s the main criterion I think I should use. The developer should be able to do better, and I hope they have a chance. I’d love to see this evolve into future sequels, but so far it was already fun for what it is.
