Oura collaborated with Gucci to make an 18 carat gold smart ring

Posted on May 26, 2022May 26, 2022 by admin

Oura, the startup pushing the boundaries of how small a wearable can be, just announced a partnership that could significantly increase its profile. It’s teaming up with fashion house Gucci on the Gucci x Oura Ring, made from black synthetic corundum and decorated with the famous interlocking “G” and a braided torch pattern, both in 18K yellow gold. It comes with Oura’s latest generation 3 technology, which allows users to track live heart rate, sleep, activity and more.

The ring weighs just four grams (0.14 ounces), but it can read heart rate, respiration rate and temperature to tell users if they’re stressed or sick. It could supposedly measure heart rate more accurately than wrist-mounted smartwatches by using arteries in the fingers. Users also receive sleep analytics based on the same vital signs, summarizing everything into sleep, activity, and readiness scores displayed on the Oura app. It can then “provide science-backed content on how to optimize every day,” according to the company.

In our latest hands-on Oura Ring, we noted that the company has moved to a subscription model that costs $6 per month on top of the ring’s price ($300 for the current Oura Ring). Getting it to such a small size was quite a technical feat, but it’s still a bit thick compared to a regular ring.

Of course, you’ll pay a premium for the Gucci x Oura Ring, available now at select stores around the world for $950. The good news is, Oura’s “Lifetime Membership” subscription is included in the price, so you never have to worry about that. Pay. Check out the Gucci x Oura landing page here for more information.

Update 26/5/2022 09:50 ET: Updated the post with the correct Gucci x Oura Ring price of $950.
