THE HOUSE OF THE DEAD: Remake is a remake of the game introduced in 1997 on the arcade platform. A classic arcade shooting game gets a new setting and gameplay changes to suit modern gameplay standards. This title lacks many features from other Trackmania games, mostly related to user-generated and multiplayer content, but has the best single-player campaign.
Coming from someone who did 100% of the campaign for any other Trackmania title. I would only recommend this Trackmania game over others if you are interested in a single player campaign. Trackmania Nations Forever and Trackmania (2020) are free and good ways to try out the series if you’re not sure. The normal campaign is arguably one of the most challenging in Trackmania, but it strikes a good balance between feeling difficult and feeling doable. It doesn’t do the best job to teach you the basics of the game, but you’ll learn with more playing time.
After completing the base game 100%, you unlock Super Solo, which is legitimately one of the most difficult challenges to complete for games. If you want to spend possibly thousands of hours mastering every little nuance of a seemingly simple set of mechanics, then this is for you! It is very gratifying to do so, but of course that amount of dedication is not for everyone.
Still, if you’re looking for any skill-based time trial challenge, the campaign for a player in this game will have you covered for a long time. In terms of physics, Nadeo seems to have adjusted the handling of existing environments (Canyon, Stadium and Valley). None of the settings have made the environments bad to play with, and they still retain their uniquely different handling styles.
